This file contains a list of changes made to the tagging and parsing labels following the first WSJ release. These changes affect the Switchboard and Brown data. Details can be found in ??? POS tags (1) BES and HVS are used for 's from "is" and "has" respectively (2) the tag GW is used to join parts of words that have been written separately by the transcriber (3) the tag TO applies only to the infinitive marker (and not to the preposition "to") (4) only the following words are tagged as particles RP about, across, down, in, off, on, out, over, through, up, back, away, like (with 'be' introducing speech) Parsing labels: (1) New dash-tags are: (a) -UNF used to mark unfinished constituents (b) -ETC used for vague sentence-final additions, such as "etcetera", "or anything", "or whatever", etc. (c) -IMP used to label imperatives (2) The dash-tag -CLR is no longer used (3) TYPO is used to group parts of "words" written separately (4) EDITED labels the reparandum of a restart
