In recent years, the views that "young people should not buy houses too early," "young people buy houses as soon as they graduate from universities, which means their thinking is abnormal," and the likes have become popular. More and more people recognize these views and they often compare this situation with the Americans. Why must we compare [ourselves] with the Americans? Do these two countries have comparability? In America, the rate of personal home onwers is low. On the one hand, Americans have very good public benefits and satisfactory living standards, whic is available even for renters. On the other hand, Americans have very high mobility and renting is more convenient than buying. However for us, public benefits and supporting facilities are not good, and rental are definitely a temporary option. As for "housing provided by the government--housing security products, such as social housing, are rare. Demands are much higher than supply, what to do? Experts always advice young people to buy housing based on a reasonable grounds, but the facts tells people that housing prices are always like a "ship which floats higher with raising of the river," and developers are more reliable than the experts. Although the housing prices have gone down a little recently, in general, the domestic housing prices are still high. It is believed that if you wait for ten years, the housing prices would not go down to the level that match young people's incomes. If you cannot afford a house now, you will not afford it in future. More importantly, under current regulatory systems and in this social environment, there is no basis for you not to have a house. So, in my humble opinion, what you are buying is not a house, instead a sense of belonging as a citizen and security to survive in this environment. Buying can be delayed, however the sense of belonging cannot be delayed. Compare buying a house with the Americans? Why not compare benefits with the Americans? American houses are not expensive and sometimes renting is more advantageous. Can you afford to rent a residental home? Given current housing prices, ordinary people have to work for 20 years. In addition, the 20 years I have mentioned require a situation where you do not consume any food or drink. Even under this assumption, not all people can afford it. The people who cannot afford a house will never [be able to] afford it. This is the sad thing in China.
