Two recordings of one sentence were prepared. The first was read by the principal investigator at a comfortable rate. The second was read at a substantially greater rate of articulation. These were played to each subject to illustrate the degree of rate increase they should aim for, and subjects then read all texts at this self-controlled fast rate.
