This repository contains a corpus of spontaneous conversations and radio news stories annotated with the Rhythm and Pitch (RaP) annotation scheme, developed by Laura Dilley and Meredith Brown (Dilley & Brown, 2005). The annotation manual, including practice soundfiles and textgrids, is available here: http://tedlab.mit.edu/tedlab_website/RaPHome.html. For more information on RaP, this corpus, and a comparison of RaP with the Tones and Breaks Indices (ToBI) scheme, including a large-scale inter-rater reliability comparison between the two systems, see Breen, Dilley, Kraemer, & Gibson (2012): http://dx.doi.org/10.1515/cllt-2012-0011 The CALLHOME folder contains approximately 13 minutes of speech taken from the CALLHOME American English Speech corpus (catalog.ldc.upenn.edu/LDC97S42) and their associated Praat textgrids. The BURSC folder contains approximately 14 minutes of speech taken from the Boston University Radio Speech Corpus (catalog.ldc.upenn.edu/LDC96S36) and their associated soundfiles. Many files in this sub-corpus feature the same news story read by two or more radio announcers. Please contact Mara Breen (mbreen@mtholyoke.edu) or Laura Dilley (ldilley@msu.edu) with questions.
