Avatar Education Portuguese Corpus

Overview
--------

Avatar Education Portuguese Corpus Version 1.0, contains microphone 
speech with phonetic and orthographic transcriptions. The 
utterances consist of read speech (for phonetic coverage).
The corpus contains 1.400 speakers (700 speakers male (CID) and 700
speakers female (LIS)) . A total of 1.400 utterances (700 utterances
male  (CID) and 700 utterances female (LIS)) have been transcribed 
at the word level (without time alignments) and transcribed 
at the phoneme level (with time alignments labels). Protocol design, 
recording and transcription were performed by the University of
Pernambuco Federal University  and University of Pernambuco.The 
data has been recorded at 16kHz (mono, 16-bit) and stored in
flac compressed wav format. The recording was conducted  in the ProTools tool. 
The acoustic environment was controlled, in order to allow for 
background conditions that would occur in application environments.


Distribution Directory Structure

This is the directory structure for this distribution of 
the The Avatar Education Portuguese Corpus. This corpus 
is distributed by the University of Pernambuco & Federal 
University of Pernambuco. Following is a description of 
the directory structure in this release:

  docs/        	   readme.txt	This file.

  data/speech/	   The speech directory contains the actual  	
                   .flac files (1400 separate utterances). 
                   There are two subdirectories within the 
                   speech directory.

  data/text/       The transcriptions directory. A total of 
                   1400 utterances have been transcribed at
                   the word level (without time alignments).

  data/labels/     The transcriptions directory. A total of 
                   1400 labels have been transcribed at
                   the phoneme level (with time alignments 
                   labels).

This corpus requires approximately 248MB of disk space.
