                          NIST Speech Disc 5-2.1
 

This CD-ROM contains part of a corpus of digitized speech developed for the
Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Spoken Language Systems
(SLS) program.  The disc was prepared under sponsorship from the DARPA
Information Science and Technology Office (ISTO) and was produced by the
National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).


                              CD-ROM Contents
                              ---------------

The following files and subdirectories are located in the top level directory
of this CD-ROM:

       atis0/: Directory containing Air Travel Information System corpora.
               This set of corpora is comprised of read versions of 
               spontaneous speech and read adaptation data from 20 of the
               speakers on CD5-1.1.  The file "atis0/readme.doc" may be 
               consulted for further information. 

   readme.doc: This file.

      sphere/: Directory containing the NIST SPeech HEader REsources (SPHERE) 
               software (version 1.5).  SPHERE is a set of "C" library 
               routines and programs for manipulating the NIST header 
               structure prepended to the speech waveform files.  See
               "sphere/readme.doc" for more information.
